Understanding Health
These definitions should increase your knowledge, discernment, wisdom, and thus your ability to set a standard against which to measure your lifestyle and eating choices (e.g., whether you are eating food or poison). My prayer is that it will shore up your commitment to make life-giving, life-enhancing choices that meet these basic criteria.
• Health: The condition of being sound in body, mind, and spirit; physical and mental well being; freedom from physical disease, pain, or defect; normalcy of physical and mental function; soundness.
• Good Health: All bodily functions are in peak condition and at peak performance.
• Optimal Health: Resilience, quick recovery, vitality, robust.
• Lifestyle: What we put into our bodies and what we do with our bodies. This includes food, exercise, rest, stress management, prevention, prayer, environments, people, places, and things.
• Poison: A substance that causes injury, illness, or death, especially by chemical means; something destructive or fatal.
• Food: Any substance taken into and assimilated by a plant or animal to keep it alive and enable it to grow and repair tissue; nourishment; nutriment.
• Nourishment: Contributing to health or growth.
• Nutriment: (1) Anything that nourishes; food; (2) anything that promotes growth, development, or good health.
• Nutrition: Fuels the body to perform functions necessary for vitality, health, and existence itself.
• Formula for Good Health: (1) Maximize nourishment.
(2) Eliminate waste.
• Source of Nourishment and Healing: God and Nature.
• Nature: Air, water, sunshine, food, electricity.
